Big DOGE Cuts, Big Losses for Small Business: New Report Reveals Federal Supplier Setbacks
Washington, D.C. — A newly released report is raising alarms across the small business contracting community. The DOGE Small Business Impact Report, published as of March 27, 2025, outlines the far-reaching consequences of recent policy decisions implemented by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the current administration.
The report provides data-driven insight into widespread federal contract cancellations, agency workforce reductions, and procurement office closures—all of which are disrupting opportunities for small, woman-owned, and disadvantaged businesses that rely on access to the federal marketplace.
"Small businesses are the backbone of federal procurement—and they are being sidelined," the report states. "These policy shifts are not only undermining supplier confidence, but they are also putting livelihoods at risk across the country."
The analysis highlights:
A marked increase in contract terminations for convenience;
Reduced engagement with new small business vendors;
Delayed or discontinued programs previously supporting underserved business categories.
Charmagne Manning, Executive Director of the American Small Business Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the real-world implications of these trends:
“Federal small business suppliers are facing the consequences of decisions made without their voices at the table. This report confirms what our members have been telling us for months—contracts are vanishing, opportunities are drying up, and vital agency support is disappearing.”
“We urge Congress to take this data seriously. The erosion of small business access to federal contracts isn’t just a policy issue—it’s an economic emergency for communities across America.”
Call to Action: The American Small Business Chamber of Commerce is encouraging small business owners to share their personal stories and the findings of this report with their elected representatives in Congress.
