RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs! What’s the Difference? 02/4/25

  • The American Small Business Chamber of Commerce 700 12th Street NW #700 Washington, DC 20005 U.S.A. (map)

RFI, RFP, and RFQ are acronyms that stand for request for information, request for proposal, and request for quotation. They are documents used in the procurement process to help companies evaluate suppliers and select the best vendor. Each document has a specific purpose and is used at different stages of the procurement process

It’s important to understand the difference and what information should be contained in each type.

At the end of this session, you should have an understanding of Request for Information (RFI), Request for Proposal (RFP), and Request for Quotation (RFQ). In addition, you should understand what information is contained in each and how they impact the various steps throughout the procurement process.
